The third and fourth rounds of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone championship brought Cusick Morgan Motorsports to Barber Motorsports Park for a doubleheader weekend, where the team showcased continued progression across both races in their first INDY NXT by Firestone season.
Race One proved to be a highlight for the team, with Nicolas Stati delivering a standout performance. Starting from 15th, Stati made immediate gains at the start and continued his charge through the field with consistent pace to secure a tenth-place finish. The result marks his first top-ten in INDY NXT competition and a personal best finish.
Juan Manuel Correa also demonstrated resilience in the opening race. Starting from tenth, Correa was involved in contact on the first lap that dropped him to the back of the field. Despite the setback, he showed impressive race pace and determination, fighting his way back through the field to finish 11th, narrowly missing out on a top-ten result.
In Race Two, Correa capitalized on a strong start, gaining two positions on the opening lap and establishing himself inside the top-ten early. He maintained a consistent pace throughout the race to secure an eighth-place finish, marking the team’s best result of the weekend. The weekend marked an important step forward for Correa, moving him up to sixth in the INDY NXT by Firestone championship standings.
Stati started Race Two from 13th, and engaged in some hard racing, which left him with damage on the opening lap. Despite the early setback, he maintained his speed and fought through the remainder of the race to bring the #15 car across the line in 15th.
“Don and I are very encouraged by the progress we saw this weekend,” said Team Co-Owner Billy Morgan. “Nick achieving his first top-ten finish is a big milestone, and JM showed great determination to fight back in Race One and deliver a strong result in Race Two. We continue to see growth from both drivers each time we hit the track. Our partnership with HMD Motorsports has been instrumental, and we’re confident we can keep building on this momentum as the season progresses.”
The team now turns its focus to upcoming testing, beginning at Nashville Superspeedway for its first oval test of the season, before continuing preparations at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The INDY NXT by Firestone competition heats back up, May 8–10, for the Indianapolis Grand Prix doubleheader.
