The fourth and fifth rounds of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone championship brought Cusick Morgan Motorsports to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course for a challenging doubleheader weekend filled with demanding qualifying sessions, changing weather conditions, and on-track adversity.
After challenging qualifying sessions for both races, the team focused on race execution and gaining positions throughout the weekend. Nicolas Stati qualified 17th for race one while Correa started 19th. For race two, Correa lined up 16th on the grid, and Stati rolled off from 18th.
Race one saw changing weather conditions impact the field as rain arrived during the event, forcing teams to make the switch to wet-weather tires under a red flag stoppage. Both drivers remained composed through the difficult conditions and worked forward throughout the race. Both Juan Manuel Correa and Nicolas Stati delivered steady drives in the wet to cross the line 12th and 14th, respectively.
Race two brought early adversity for Stati after he suffered a puncture in the opening stages, dropping him a lap behind the leaders. Despite the setback, Stati continued to push through the remainder of the event to finish 21st, gaining valuable experience along the way. Correa demonstrated strong race pace in race two, battling forward through the field and narrowly missing out on a top-ten result with an 11th-place finish.
“While the results may not fully reflect the effort and pace we showed throughout the weekend, there were still positives for us to build on,” said Billy Morgan. “Both drivers continued to fight through difficult circumstances, and the team did a strong job adapting to changing conditions during race one.”
Cusick Morgan Motorsports will now shift its attention toward the next round of the 2026 INDY NXT by Firestone championship as the series heads to the Streets of Detroit on May 29-31. The team looks to build on the progress shown at Indianapolis as it prepares for another demanding weekend of competition on the streets of downtown Detroit.
